PIPPA TRAINING COURSES :

Identifying and Responding to Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA)

(½ day)

This course aims to develop knowledge of domestic violence and its prevalence. It will provide a range of tools to identify domestic violence and abuse, how to assess risk and know how to respond safely and appropriately

 Aims of the training:

  • To build on awareness of DVA and its prevalence.
  • To give participants the tools and knowledge of how to identify DVA.
  • Ensure participants are confident on how to assess risk where there is DVA.
  • To give details, e.g. how to respond safely and appropriately.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the ‘barriers’ those experiencing DVA have to seeking help.
  • Assess risk and take appropriate action.
  • Contact specialist service for future help and advice.

 Who should attend?

Anyone working with individuals and families in Southampton.

Ideally those attending this course will have a basic understanding of DVA.

 Responding to Domestic Violence and Abuse and its Impact on Children and Young People within the Family

(1 day) This full day course aims to build on and further develop your knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on children and young people. It will provides a range of tools to identify domestic violence and abuse, how to assess risk and how to respond safely and appropriately.

  • To build awareness of DVA and impact on children and young people.
  • To build on awareness of DVA and its prevalence.
  • To give participants the tools and knowledge of how to identify DVA.
  • To give details e.g. how to respond safely and appropriately.

Learning outcomes;

  • Identify the impact DVA has on children and young people.
  • Identify the ‘barriers’ those experiencing DVA have to seeking help
  • Assess risk and take appropriate action.

Identify and Engaging with Perpetrators of Domestic Violence and Abuse (1 day)                                                                                 

This full day course aims to develop knowledge of the safety focus of victims and children when working with perpetrators of domestic abuse. It aims to increase practitioner confidence when working with perpetrators, understand the principles of screening and develop knowledge in a range resources.

 Learning outcomes:

  • Identify the safety of victims and children as priority when beginning to work with perpetrators.
  • Recognise the 3 C’s – Collusion, Challenge and Collaboration.
  • Recognise risk especially victim blaming.
  • Enhance skills in engaging domestic abuse perpetrators.
  • Identify ‘barriers’ to seeking help, to respond safely and appropriately with perpetrators.
  • Provide contacts for future help and advice.
  • Increase understanding of ‘who does what to whom’.
  • Increase practitioner confidence to ask appropriate questions

 Anyone working with individuals and families in Southampton.

Diversity and Culture Training for Southampton

 (1 day) This course has been written specifically for Southampton.

 

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand what diversity and culture is in Southampton.
  • Understand how diversity and culture can create barriers.
  • Support a client to access services.
  • Understand the differences between UK law and cultures.

Who should attend?

Anyone working with individuals and families in Southampton.

Ideally those attending this course will have a basic understanding of DVA.
